I appreciate how you addressed the topic of being a coach for someone with more experience. This is relevant to so many others who may see this as a hurdle. I also like what you said about making it a successful experience for both parties involved. Referring to coaching as a symbiotic relationship should be used more to describe peer coaching! You also explained how TPACK fits into your coaching by saying “ It’s not enough to simply have a deep understanding of the material, it’s not enough to have great classroom management skills, and it’s not enough to have the ability to find powerful educational technology tools.” This made it very clear to me how those different pieces can guide discussions, reflections and goal setting. I am encouraged to think in this way now too. Nicely done.

The story of you and your learning partner’s first coaching connection, the teacher trying to differentiation instruction and you suggested Raz-Kids, was very powerful.

Also, I noticed you are feeling more comfortable with the fact that you are “coaching” someone with more teaching experience, but as you mentioned in the post you are helping to build her “educational technology skills.” It sounds like a win-win situation!

Your thoughts about supporting an experienced teacher resonated. Your integration of McCarthy (2015) was such strong reminder to provide time for reflection in the relationship. Often we can just keep going and going without actually reflecting on what happened. Thanks for that great reminder. Finally, what such an amazing opportunity to already see a tangible output of your relationship with your peer teacher! That is so exciting!
